So you need to fdisk and format your hard drive?
This walk through on how to fdisk and format hard drive assumes you are
installing
Windows 9X or WinME.
What is needed:
1. A bootable floppy disk with fdisk.exe on it or a Windows 9X bootdisk.
http://www.thetechboard.com/downloads/
has a bootable floppy you can download.
If you have a new hard drive and want to partition and format it you can
skip over Part I.
PART I:
Boot the system off of the floppy disk to save a few seconds select option
#3 and press enter to continue.

After the system has booted and you are at the A:\>
prompt type FDISK and press enter to continue.
Read this if you want then press Y and enter to
continue.
Now let's delete the partition in case some virus is
hiding, press #3 then press enter to continue.
On the next screen select #1 delete primary partition
then press enter to continue.

Select partition #1 then press enter to continue.
If the disk has a volume label it will ask you to enter it and that info can
be found on the previous screen. If there is no volume label press enter to
continue or enter the volume label and press enter to continue.

No turning back now, select Y and press enter to
continue.

Now it´s all gone press esc to continue.

Now press esc and we will make a new partition and
format it.
PART II
Choose #1 Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive then press enter to
continue.
Select Y to use the entire disk then press enter to
continue.
Now restart the system with the boot floppy.
Back at the A:\ prompt type FORMAT C: and press enter to
continue.

Now press Y to format the disk and press enter to
continue.
You can now enter a volume name if
you want or just press enter to continue.
Ok looks like we are all done here Type C:\ and press
enter.

All done and your hard drive is now ready for use.
